Learning Skills Services
Looking to increase the efficiency or effectiveness of your reading and study strategies? Within the Learning Assistance Program, the office of Learning Skills Services provides instruction in strategies for academic success to all undergraduates at Appalachian State. These services are offered at no additional cost.
Consider if any of the following options might be helpful to you.
2. Sometimes a one-on-one conversation can help you develop a plan for success. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Cama Duke, a learning and reading specialist, please email Cama at firstname.lastname@example.org with several options of days/times you are free to meet (please provide one week's advance notice). Available August-May, these appointments are free to Appalachian students.
3. Some students benefit from meeting each week with an interdisciplinary tutor, an experienced and successful peer tutor who can help you identify study goals and apply study strategies to specific coursework on a weekly basis. To sign up for tutoring, go in person to 208 D. D. Dougherty and fill out a tutor request form. See www.tutoring.appstate.edu for more information.
4. Some students appreciate the chance to take one of our one-credit hour elective courses on topics related to academic success. These practical courses are typically a chance to identify, practice, and reflect on strategies that will boost your efficiency and/or effectiveness. See http://lap.appstate.edu/course-offerings for more information.
